10 Mile Run

Was runing up to 17 miles until a couple of weeks ago, however since deciding to do The London Marathon have sought advice and been told not to peak too early and concentrate on improving my speed if I want to finish the marathon in a decent time. Hence the short runs in the week and 10 miles at the weekend at the moment.
Not a bad run today, ran slightly faster than last Sunday, Considering all the chocolate cake I've eaten left over from my daughters birthday on Friday, I'm surprised I could run at all!

A BIG thank you to John Foster, all patients and everyone that has sponsored me so far especially Jenny who remains in the lead with the biggest donation so far . I know it's early days yet but appreciate all your support, it means alot.

Fast 3 mile run at the gym and some weight work. 6 mile run yesterday went well, just got in before the rain started! Quite difficult to juggle fitting everything in but feeling good after each run keeps me going.


Monday 15th November 2010

More cakes at work today due to work colleague's birthday (Hi Phyl). Can't stop eating as it is, due to all this running but it would have been rude not to have had one. Starting to realise that after talking to experienced runners I should be looking more seriously into what I'm eating and I don't think cakes are on the list! Oh well we'll see!!

10 Mile Torture Run!




Decided to run with someone today as thinking I'm slowing down and not speeding up!

OMG what a hard 10 mile run that was! Turned my iPod up so I didn't have to listen to the nagging! However did manage to get a faster time by knocking off 1 min 15 secs. :)

Thursday 11th November 2010

Went to the gym for a steady 5k run because of rain. Took me 27 minutes, my excuse? breaking in my new trainers still! Also did 5k on a bike, plus some core work.
Busy for next two days, work etc so planning to do a longer run on Sunday, hopefully it wont be raining!

Wednesday 10th November 2010

Made sure I didn't sit down after work as wanted to do a 10k road run and wouldn't have got up again if I had.
Near miss with a car whilst crossing the road in the dark, didn't realise how dark it actually is running along the streets, the street lighting isn't very good or maybe I just need to eat more carrots!
Anyway managed to finish run in 51 minutes and didn't tread in anything nasty! Hope I can improve on this time!

Monday 8th November 2010

Wore my new trainers for the first time at the gym today, they feel like boats on the end of my feet rather than trainers and not very flexible! Did speed training on the treadmill, trainers felt good once I got going.

Visited the London Marathon shop today bought my second pair of running shoes in 4 months, this is turning out to be an expensive venture but it will be worth it in the end.
